Flooring Questions

Flooring Durability & Selection

For maximum durability, we recommend SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) luxury vinyl flooring or engineered hardwood with a thick wear layer. SPC flooring is 100% waterproof, highly scratch-resistant, and maintains dimensional stability in varying temperatures. For natural wood aesthetics with durability, hickory and oak species rank highest on the Janka hardness scale. Your specific needs (water resistance, refinishing capability, etc.) should guide your final selection.
Solid hardwood is generally not recommended for basements due to moisture concerns. However, engineered hardwood can be installed in below-grade spaces when proper moisture mitigation is in place. We recommend moisture testing (3 lbs or less per MVER), installing appropriate moisture barriers, and choosing engineered products with quality plywood cores. SPC luxury vinyl is an excellent alternative for basements as it's completely waterproof.
Solid hardwood is milled from a single piece of wood (typically 3/4" thick) and can be refinished multiple times over its lifetime. Engineered hardwood features a real wood veneer over a stable plywood or HDF core, making it more dimensionally stable and suitable for installation over concrete or with radiant heat systems. Both offer authentic wood beauty, but engineered provides more installation flexibility and better moisture resistance.
Traditional laminate flooring is water-resistant but not waterproof. However, newer waterproof laminate products feature sealed cores and edges that prevent water damage. For wet areas like bathrooms and kitchens, we recommend SPC or WPC luxury vinyl flooring, which offers true waterproof protection. If you prefer laminate, look for products specifically labeled "waterproof" with wax-sealed edges.
Installation

Installation Questions

TimeFloor focuses on wholesale distribution rather than direct installation services. However, we work with a network of experienced, vetted installers throughout the New York area and can provide referrals upon request. We also offer comprehensive installation guides and technical support to help ensure successful installations whether performed by professionals or skilled DIYers.
Acclimation requirements vary by product type. Solid hardwood should acclimate 3-5 days minimum in the installation environment. Engineered hardwood typically needs 48-72 hours. SPC and laminate flooring are more stable and generally need 24-48 hours. Always maintain the room at normal living conditions (60-80°F, 30-50% relative humidity) during acclimation.
In many cases, yes. Click-lock floating floors (SPC, engineered, laminate) can often be installed over existing hard surfaces like vinyl, tile, or hardwood if the existing floor is flat, dry, and structurally sound. Glue-down installations generally require removal of existing flooring. Never install over carpet or cushioned flooring. We recommend consulting with our team about your specific situation.

Logistics

Lead Times & Delivery

In-stock items are available for same-day pickup or delivery within 1-3 business days for the NYC metro area. Special orders and custom cabinet configurations typically require 2-4 weeks. Counter top fabrication runs 5-10 business days after template. During peak seasons, lead times may extend, so we recommend ordering early for time-sensitive projects.
Yes, we deliver throughout the tri-state area (New York, New Jersey, Connecticut) and can arrange freight shipping nationwide. Local delivery fees are based on distance and order size. For out-of-area orders, we work with trusted freight carriers and provide shipping quotes upon request. Pickup from our Flushing warehouse is always available.
Absolutely. Warehouse pickup is available Monday through Saturday during business hours. We recommend calling ahead for large orders so we can have your materials ready for loading. Please bring appropriate vehicle and equipment for your order size - our warehouse team can assist with loading using forklifts for pallet quantities.

Warranty Information

All products carry manufacturer warranties ranging from 15 years to lifetime coverage depending on the product line. Residential warranties typically extend longer than commercial warranties. Warranty coverage includes structural integrity, wear layer performance, and manufacturing defects. We maintain complete warranty documentation for all products and assist with any warranty claims.
Common warranty exclusions include: improper installation, insufficient subfloor preparation, water damage from flooding or appliance leaks (except on waterproof products), damage from improper maintenance or cleaning products, and normal wear in high-traffic areas. Following manufacturer installation guidelines and maintenance recommendations ensures warranty protection.

Keep your purchase documentation and any leftover product samples for potential warranty matching. Most legitimate claims are resolved within 2-4 weeks.
